FERTPRO LABORATORY
Planned specialty scope · Availability subject to clinical validation

From specimen collection to a result clinicians can act on.

General laboratory, embryology and andrology scope.

THE CLINICAL JOURNEY

Designed around the way
your specialty works.

Order → accession → specimen/aliquot → assay run → verified result and amendments.

01

Order catalogue specifies specimen, container, preparation, collection timing, urgency and performing laboratory.

02

Phlebotomy and reception capture barcode, collector, transport conditions, acceptance/rejection and aliquot genealogy.

03

Benches manage worklists, analyser runs, calibration, internal QC, reagent lots, reflex testing and repeats with explicit reasons.

04

Authorized staff validate results, communicate critical findings, issue corrected reports and support microbiology organism/antimicrobial susceptibility structures.

Diagnosis coverage and clinical records

Laboratories principally report tests and interpretations: haematology, chemistry, endocrinology, immunology, serology, microbiology and molecular diagnostics. Keep clinician diagnosis/indication separate from detected organism, abnormal analyte or laboratory interpretive comment.

Measurements that give the record meaning
Measurements and the context needed to interpret them
MeasurementUnits / representationClinical context
Haematologyg/L or g/dL; ×10⁹/L; fLAnalyte, specimen, method and population interval
Chemistry/electrolytesmmol/L; mg/dL; µmol/LAnalyte-specific units, haemolysis and dilution

Culture/organismcoded presence; quantitySpecimen site, isolate identifier and collection
Antimicrobial susceptibilitymg/L; categoryMIC or zone in mm, method and breakpoint edition
Molecular resultqualitative; copies/mL; Ct if appropriateAssay, target, detection limit and interpretation
QC metricscontrol value; SD; CV%Control lot, level, run and rejection rule
Equipment and integration plans
  • Chemistry, haematology, coagulation, immunoassay, blood gas, microbiology and PCR instruments → LIS/middleware, usually model-specific HL7 v2, ASTM-derived or vendor protocols.
  • Orders may travel out and results return only where both directions are supported; portable POCT also needs operator competency and device QC information.

Connections require an approved interface and testing against the installed manufacturer, model and software. Listed equipment is a candidate integration target.

Reporting and meaningful outcomes

Turnaround by collection/receipt/verification separately; specimen rejection per received specimen; critical-result acknowledgement; QC failures by run.

Development scope and clinical validation

Initial scope

Accessioning, specimen tracking, manual result validation, critical notification and quality logs.

Advanced scope

Validated analyser interfaces, constrained auto-verification and microbiology surveillance.

Example acceptance scenarios

  • Failed QC must prevent routine auto-release for affected tests; replayed results must not duplicate observations.
  • A corrected result must retain the previous value and reach the prior report recipients; unit mapping errors must quarantine the result.
